Terms & Conditions

1. DEFINITIONS

  • "FMT", "we", "us", "our": Focus Maths Tutors
  • "Client": The person booking tutoring services (parent/guardian)
  • "Student": The person receiving tutoring services
  • "Services": Online mathematics tutoring sessions and related materials
  • "Session": Individual tutoring lesson of specified duration
  • "Course": Package of multiple sessions as described in our programmes

 

2. SERVICE PROVISION

2.1 FMT provides online small-group mathematics tutoring for GCSE, A-Level, and Year 9 students via video conferencing platforms.

2.2 All sessions are conducted online using platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or similar approved platforms.

2.3 Sessions are delivered by qualified mathematics educators with appropriate teaching experience and enhanced DBS clearance.

2.4 Course materials, worksheets, and resources are provided as part of the service at no additional cost.

 

3. BOOKING AND ENROLLMENT

3.1 Registration is completed via our online form and constitutes acceptance of these terms.

3.2 Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of completed registration and payment.

3.3 We reserve the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrollment (minimum 3 students required).

3.4 Course confirmation and joining instructions are sent via email within 48 hours of registration.

 

4. FEES AND PAYMENT

4.1 All fees are as stated on our website and registration form at the time of booking.

4.2 Payment is due in full at the time of registration unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in writing.

4.3 We currently only accept payment via bank transfer.

4.4 Refund Policy:

  • Full refund available up to 48 hours before the first session minus a £25 administration fee.
  • 50% refund available up to 24 hours before the first session
  • No refund after the first session has commenced
  • Refunds for course cancellation by FMT: 100% refund or transfer to alternative course

4.5 Late payment may result in suspension from sessions until payment is received.

 

5. ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION

5.1 Students are expected to attend all scheduled sessions punctually and prepared for learning.

5.2 Missed Sessions:

  • We cannot provide refunds for student absence
  • Session recordings may be available as a substitute where possible
  • Make-up sessions are not guaranteed but may be offered at our discretion

5.3 Students must have access to appropriate technology:

  • Reliable internet connection
  • Computer/tablet with webcam and microphone
  • Quiet study environment

5.4 Disruptive behaviour may result in removal from the course without refund.

 

6. SAFEGUARDING AND ONLINE SAFETY

6.1 All tutors hold enhanced DBS clearance and complete regular safeguarding training.

6.2 Session Recording: Sessions may be recorded for quality assurance and safeguarding purposes. Recordings are securely stored and deleted after 30 days unless required for safeguarding investigations.

6.3 Parental Supervision: We encourage parents to be available during sessions and may request parental presence for students under 16.

6.4 Communication: All communication between tutors and students must go through official channels. Private messaging or social media contact is prohibited.

6.5 Reporting: Any safeguarding concerns will be reported to appropriate authorities in accordance with our safeguarding policy.

 

7. DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY

7.1 We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy.

7.2 Data Collection: We collect student and parent contact details, academic information, and session attendance records for legitimate educational purposes.

7.3 Data Sharing: Personal data is not shared with third parties except where required by law or for safeguarding purposes.

7.4 Data Retention: Student records are retained for 7 years after course completion for academic and legal purposes.

7.5 Your Rights: You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data. Contact us at info@focusmathstutors.co.uk for data requests.

 

8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

8.1 All course materials, worksheets, and content remain the intellectual property of FMT.

8.2 Materials are provided for personal study use only and may not be distributed or reproduced without written permission.

8.3 Session recordings are for educational review only and must not be shared or distributed.

 

9. LIABILITY AND DISCLAIMER

9.1 While we aim to improve academic performance, we cannot guarantee specific exam results or grade improvements.

9.2 Our liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific course in question.

9.3 We are not liable for technical issues beyond our control that may affect session delivery.

9.4 FMT maintains appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

 

10. CANCELLATION AND TERMINATION

10.1 Client Cancellation: Clients may cancel registration subject to the refund policy in section 4.4.

10.2 FMT Cancellation: We reserve the right to cancel courses due to:

  • Insufficient enrollment
  • Tutor unavailability due to illness or other circumstances
  • Technical issues preventing safe delivery

10.3 Termination for Breach: We may terminate a student's enrollment immediately for:

  • Non-payment of fees
  • Persistent disruptive behaviour
  • Breach of online safety guidelines
  • Providing false information during registration

 

11. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

11.1 Clients are responsible for ensuring adequate technical setup for online learning.

11.2 We provide technical support during sessions but cannot be held responsible for individual connectivity issues.

11.3 Minimum requirements are published on our website and updated regularly.

 

12. COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

12.1 Complaints should be submitted in writing to info@focusmathstutors.co.uk within 14 days of the incident.

12.2 We aim to resolve all complaints within 14 working days.

12.3 Unresolved complaints may be referred to independent mediation services.

 

13. GENERAL TERMS

13.1 These terms may be updated periodically. Clients will be notified of significant changes.

13.2 If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining terms remain in full effect.

13.3 These terms are governed by English law and subject to the jurisdiction of English courts.

13.4 Any disputes will be resolved through negotiation and, if necessary, mediation before legal proceedings.
